Project Description
Engineering Challenge – Blades on Bulker
Services
- Planning and calculation of possibilities for a vessel, which is not designed for decks cargo
- Engineering of grillage (cargo stool) to extend loading capacities on deck
- Maximum intake of 62 blades required
Scope
- Stowage and seafastening of blades on bulker deck
- Problem: a bulker is not designed for heavy load on deck
- Several issues: strength of deck, hatch covers and sides require exact calculation of weightspreading
- Sloping deck requires exact measurement to guarantee horizontal alignment of the cargo
- Vessels deck design with four cranes could be an issue for the loading and lashing processes
- The height of the stowed cargo must not exceed the sight line
- Ongoing clarification of upcoming issues during loading process
- Creating and engineering of stools
- accompanying supervision from the German office during the production of the steel structure on site
Added Value
- Providing transportation solutions for cargo and vessel, which are not designed for each other enlarges the shipping possibilities for the customer
- Fast and ad hoc solutions created within tight time limits
